About the series
Tales of the Five-Ball Trainer is an ongoing series following Roy Ackerman, who wants to follow in his late father's footsteps and complete the journey he never got to. Pokémon are mysterious, intelligent creatures that seem to have been created for the purpose of battle, can fluently understand human language despite not speaking it themselves, and are surrounded in mysteries and logical impossibilities. A lover of science and adventure just as his father was, Roy hopes to fulfill the dreams of both him and his father by becoming a great Pokémon Trainer, exploring as much of the world as he can, and making a huge discovery about these curious creatures that have baffled scientists for as long as they've been around.
Tales of the Five-Ball Trainer is a retelling of the classic Pokémon story reimagined for an adult audience. A more mature version of Pokémon for newcomers to the franchise as well as those who grew up with the series. It combines elements of the games, anime, manga, and various other sources. Tales of the Five-Ball Trainer deals with the usual adventure, friendship, science, and dreams, as well as topics including politics, war, trauma, abuse, and terrorism.
In addition to being a more adult oriented story, Tales of the Five-Ball Trainer aims to tell a story more grounded in realism. Certain changes and additions have been made to the lore for a more consistent and realistic approach.

About Taylor Reed Hudson
Taylor has been a passionate fan of Pokémon since the 90s. He grew up religiously watching the Indigo League anime and playing the games. His first game was Pokémon Silver, and he has poured hundreds of hours into every generation since.
Looking to publish his own works in the future, Taylor is an aspiring author who has written three original books and two novellas. He has dedicated his life to the craft of storytelling and has studied the art since 2007. But even after all this work and research, he is still learning, as we all are. Thus, he greatly appreciates feedback and can be reached at

But while he works on his original works every day, he also likes to work on this fun side project: a Pokémon fanfic that spawned from a single idea he got in high school. An idea that gave this series its name. Who is the Five-Ball Trainer? Why are they called that? You'll have to read and fine out.
